Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag features four legendary ships that roam the Caribbean waters. These powerful vessels are significantly stronger than regular ships and require a well-upgraded Jackdaw and careful strategy to defeat.

Defeating each legendary ship rewards you with unique upgrades, rare items, and contributes to 100% game completion. It's recommended to fully upgrade your ship before attempting these battles.

Legendary Ship #1: HMS Prince

Location

North Atlantic, near the edge of the map

Difficulty

Medium

Strategy

• The HMS Prince is a powerful British man o' war with heavy cannons
• Keep your distance and use the Mortar to bombard it from afar
• When it gets close, use Chain Shot to disable its sails
• Circle around and attack from behind
• Use Repair Kits when your hull takes damage
• Once its health is low, board the ship to finish it off

Legendary Ship #2: Royal Sovereign

Location

Caribbean Sea, northeast of Great Inagua

Difficulty

High

Strategy

• The Royal Sovereign is the largest legendary ship
• Focus on disabling its sails first with Chain Shot
• Once it's slowed, use Heavy Shot to deal massive damage
• Watch for its broadside attacks - they deal heavy damage
• Use fire barrels to set it ablaze
• Keep moving to avoid its powerful cannons

Legendary Ship #3: HMS Fearless

Location

Gulf of Mexico, south of Kingston

High

Strategy

• The HMS Fearless is the fastest legendary ship

• Once slowed, use your ramming ability to deal damage
• Quickly board before it can escape
• Its crew is large, so make sure you have a strong boarding party
• Use Swivel Guns to thin out the crew before boarding

Legendary Ship #4: El Impoluto

Location

Caribbean Sea, east of Havana

Very High

Strategy

• El Impoluto is the most challenging legendary ship
• Use fire barrels to set it ablaze - this is very effective
• Use the Mortar to attack from a safe distance
• Watch for its special attack - it can fire multiple cannons at once
• Keep moving in circles to avoid its attacks
• Use Depth Charges when it gets too close
• Be prepared for a long battle - it has the most health
