Introduction to Underwater Exploration

Underwater exploration is a key feature of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Edward can dive to explore shipwrecks, find hidden treasures, and discover secret locations beneath the Caribbean waters.

However, underwater exploration comes with risks - sharks patrol the depths, and Edward can only hold his breath for a limited time. Upgrading your diving gear is essential for deeper and longer explorations.

Essential Tips for Diving

Watch Your Air Supply

• Keep an eye on your air meter at the bottom of the screen
• Surface for air before your air runs out
• Find air pockets in underwater caves to replenish your supply
• Upgrade your diving gear to extend your underwater time

Shark Encounters

• Sharks will attack if you get too close
• Use your knife to defend yourself
• Distract sharks with bait (purchasable from shops)
• Swim quickly to escape shark attacks
• Some shipwrecks are guarded by multiple sharks

Wreck of the HMS Fearless

Location: Northeast of Great Inagua

Difficulty: Medium

Wreck of the Royal Sovereign

Location: Northwest of Nassau

Notes: Guarded by 3 sharks. Contains multiple treasure chests and Animus Fragments.

Wreck of the El Impoluto

Location: East of Havana

Difficulty: Very High

Rewards: 12,000 Reales, Legendary Armor, Elite Cannon Blueprint

Notes: Guarded by 4 sharks. The deepest shipwreck in the game. Requires maximum diving gear upgrade.

Wreck of the Merchant Fleet

Location: South of Kingston

Difficulty: Low

Rewards: 3,000 Reales, Trade Goods, Basic Upgrade Materials

Notes: Multiple small shipwrecks in the area. Good for early-game exploration.

Underwater Caves

The Lost City

Location: Near the Observatory

Difficulty: Medium

Notes: Contains puzzles and traps. Air pockets available throughout.

Coral Cave

Location: Near Cayman Sound

Difficulty: Low
